Houston hosts TCU for first time since 2004
HOUSTON – For the first time since 2010, the Houston Cougars host the TCU Horned Frogs in baseball at Don Sanders Field at Darryl and Lori Schroeder Park this Friday-Sunday.

PARKING IMPACTED BY UFL
- Parking prices for the University of Houston Baseball team's Friday night series opener against TCU will be impacted by the United Football League's (UFL) opening night game between the Houston Roughnecks and St. Louis Battlehawks at TDECU Stadium.
- Game day parking in Lot 16B (Blue Lot) will be $20. However, pre-paid parking is $15 on Friday by clicking here.
- UH Parking will honor all the Coaches Committee passes and season-long parking passes at 15G and 16B lots respectively.
- Normal UH Baseball parking rates return on Saturday and Sunday against TCU.

- All season long fans can play Baseball Bingo every Friday home game for a chance to win prizes presented by Cabo Bob's.
- Cougar Cupboard game day canned food drive. Support Cougar Cupboard with canned goods and toiletry items to be given to UH Students in need.
- Every Sunday home game this season is Family Day. Kids get in free when wearing their youth baseball jersey, can run the bases postgame and get autographs from the players. There will also be an inflatable for kids to play in on Sundays.
- Military Appreciation Day – special discounted tickets for active, reserve and former military members with their Military ID.
THE MATCHUP
- Houston's Chris Scinta and TCU's Karson Bowen and Louis Rodriguez played together on USA Baseball's 201612U National Team.
- This is the first meeting at Houston since 2010.
- Each of the previous three meetings in Houston were played at Minute Maid Park (now Daikin Park) in 2019, 2016 and 2014.
- Houston is seeking its first wins at home against TCU since 2010.
- A series win would mark the first series win over TCU since 2003 in Fort Worth.
QUICK HITTERS
- Sophomore Alex Solis worked his first-career quality start on Tuesday against SFA striking out a career-high eight hitters in career-long 6.0 innings of work.
- Houston won its first Big 12 Conference game and series of 2025 at UCF Friday-Sunday with front- and end cap wins of 7-5 and 7-4 respectfully. The series win on the road marked Houston's first Big 12 road series win in program history.
- Sophomore Richie Roman, whose six saves is the third-most nationally, moved to the weekend starter role for his third start of the year and produced arguably his best start of his career spinning a 6.0 inning quality start with seven strikeouts.
- Sophomore Tre Broussard's wheels are turning, successfully stealing 16 bases in a row this season. The Houston, native is fifth all-time in school history for consecutive stolen bases and has stolen the 25th-most bags in Division-I this season.
- Senior Antoine Jean had one of the best pitching performances of the weekend according to D1Baseball.com with 5.0 scoreless relief innings with 11 strikeouts at UCF on Friday. The 11 strikeouts in 5.0 innings moved Jean to fourth nationally in strikeouts-per-nine innings. Jean's 5.33 hits allowed per nine ranks 32nd nationally and second in the Big 12.
- Houston scored 10+ runs in five consecutive games scoring 10+ for the first time since 1999 scoring 10+ in games at Rice (3/5), vs Grambling (3/7-9) and at Sam Houston (3/12).
- Houston did not lose back-to-back games in the first 15 games of the season – the first time since 2013 when Houston did not lose back-to-back games until its 30th game of the year. During that span Houston scored 10+ runs six times and in four consecutive games for the first time since 2002.
- Sophomore Xavier Perez drove in the most RBI in a game since Bobby Hollas' nine RBI in 1979 when he drove in eight Cougars at Rice on March 5. The utility man scorched four hits, three doubles and a home run while driving in three runs on two swings of the bat. The eight RBI is fourth-most by any player in Division-I this season.
- Houston won its first four series to open the season marking the first time since 2019 the Cougars have opened the season with three series wins against non-conference teams. Houston has won the first three series of the season in back-to-back seasons after opening 2024 with series wins against Binghamton, St. John's and Baylor.
LAST TIME OUT
- Junior Tyler Cox sprayed a season-high three hits and drove in a career-high tying four RBI in Houston's 9-2 win over SFA on Tuesday night.
- Sophomore Alex Solis posted a career-high in innings and strikeouts to earn his first win of 2025.
