Cougars open Thanksgiving break action on Friday against Arkansas State
NASSAU, Bahamas – The University of Houston Women's Basketball program opens action in the 2025 Baha Mar Hoops Nassau Championship (Goombay Division) at 12:30 p.m. CT, Friday against Arkansas State inside the Baha Mar Convention Center.
The Cougars will face either Kent State or Tulsa on Sunday. The winners will advance to the Championship game at 12:30 p.m. CT, and the consolation game will be played at 10 a.m. CT. All games will be streamed live on FloCollege and can be heard on The Varsity Network.

ABOUT BAHA MAR HOOPS
Baha Mar annually plays host to one of the largest regular-season events in the sport of college basketball. Each November around the Thanksgiving holiday, 20 NCAA Division I men's and women's teams visit the stunning resort to compete in various basketball tournaments. In total, 20 games will be played over an 11-day span.
"We are excited and proud to showcase a top-tier brand of hoops in the Bahamas once again as we continue to grow and expand women's basketball and our events," college basketball analyst and event contributor Debbie Antonelli said. "I'm proud of the quality programs, coaches and student-athletes competing in this event. COOGS AT BAHAMAR HOOPS
- Houston heads to its first international multi-team event for the first time since the 2021-22 season.
- The Cougars will face Arkansas State for the first time in program history on Friday.
- If Houston faces Kent State, it will mark the second meeting in program history. The Cougars defeated the Golden Flashes 54-44 on Nov. 30, 2013.
- A meeting with Tulsa would mark the 34th meeting, with Houston winning five of the last six games.
LAST TIME OUT
- Jade Jones' first career double-double and Kierra Merchant's 18-point performance lifted Houston to a 67-57 victory over High Point at the Fertitta Center on Sunday.
- Three Cougars reached double-digit scoring on the day as Merchant led the side with 18, followed by Jones' 16 points paired with 12 rebounds.
- Kyndall Hunter tallied 13 points on a team-leading three 3-pointers made on the day.
- Following her performance last week, Jade Jones was named Big 12 Freshman of the Week. This marked the first Big 12 weekly honor in program history for Houston Women's Basketball.
