
Men’s Golf Finishes Fall Season at The Bryson Invitational

Three Cougars finish under par as Houston posts its lowest round of 54-hole event
CHARLESTON, S.C. – The University of Houston Men's Golf program posted its lowest round of the tournament with a 7-under 281 and finished 12th at The Bryson Invitational on the Ralston Creek Course at Daniel Island Club on Wednesday afternoon.
After posting scores of 290-291 in the first two rounds on the 7,295-yard, par-72 course, the Cougars rebounded Wednesday with their 10th sub-par team score in 12 total rounds this fall for a three-day total of 2-under 862. Senior Kevin An, senior Hudson Weibel and junior Grant Doggett each enjoyed rounds under par to lead the team in the Final Round.
An drained four birdies with only one bogey on the way to a 3-under 69 in the Final Round and tied for 46th at 218.
Weibel and Doggett each posted 70s on Wednesday with Weibel pacing the Cougars with five birdies and Doggett enduring only one bogey in their rounds. Weibel tied for 21st at 3-under 213 to lead Houston in the final individual standings while Doggett joined with sophomore Hsuan-Yi Chen in a tie for 51st at 219. Junior Chi Chun Chen tied for 59th at 220.
Vanderbilt claimed the team championship with a team score of 834 to finish seven strokes ahead of Wake Forest and Duke. Kansas (842), South Carolina (851), Liberty (852), Cincinnati (854), Charlotte (856), Wisconsin (856), TCU (860) and host Charleston (860) completed the Top 10.
Vanderbilt's Ryan Downes earned medalist honors after posting a 64 in the Final Round and finishing at 203. Cincinnati's Ryan Ford and Duke's Ethan Evans tied for second at 204 while Duke's Bryan Kim came in fourth at 205.

Following The Bryson Invitational, the Cougars will enjoy the holiday break before opening the spring season when they play host to the Border Olympics at Laredo Country Club in Laredo, Texas, on Feb. 16-17, 2026.
Houston welcomes HCU, Illinois State, Lamar, Louisiana, New Mexico State, North Texas, Sam Houston, Tarleton State, Troy, UT Rio Grande Valley, Wichita State and Wright State to the tournament.
From there, the Cougars travel to Mexico to compete at the Cabo Collegiate at Twin Dolphin Club in Cabo San Lucas on March 1-3.
Houston returns home to play host to their own All-American Intercollegiate at Golf Club of Houston in Humble, Texas, on March 16-17. The Cougars will face Rice, Abilene Christian, Arkansas, Eastern Michigan, HCU, Lamar, Nebraska, North Texas, Odessa College, Sam Houston, Tarleton State, ULM, UT Arlington, UT Rio Grande Valley and individuals from LSU.
