Cougars welcome Mean Green at 10 a.m., Friday and Texans at noon, Sunday
HOUSTON – After a shift in the schedule due to inclement weather, the University of Houston Tennis team hosts North Texas at 10 a.m., Friday and Tarleton State at noon, Sunday, at the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility. Admission is free for all home tennis matches.

ABOUT THE OPPONENT
North Texas
The Cougars lead the all-time series 8-3 over the Mean Green and meet for the fifth straight season. Houston dropped the previous meeting in Denton, Texas, 4-3 (Feb. 4, 2024). Junior Sophie Schouten defeated Lou Chalard, 6-1, 6-3, in that meeting.

The Scarlet & White have won four of the five previous meetings in Houston with the last being a 4-1 victory in 2023 (April 14).

Tarleton State
Houston and Tarleton State meet for just the third time in program history and the first since 2008. The Cougars are 2-0 and last defeated the Texans 5-2 in Houston (April 12, 2008).

LAST TIME OUT
The Cougars swept UT Arlington, 4-0, on Saturday at the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility. Houston just needed one court to take earn the doubles point as the Mavericks were shorthanded and had to forfeit a doubles court. Sophomores Valeriia Krokhotina and Iva Sepa defeated Valeriia Ivanovskaia and Mialy Ranaivo, 6-2, to clinch the doubles point.

The Cougars again had an advantage in singles play as court six was forfeited by UT Arlington. Schouten was quick to defeat Dumitrescu on court four, 6-3, 6-1, while Krokhotina took care of Nika Novikova, 6-3, 6-0, to clinch the match for the Cougars.
