A New Era in Houston Tennis Begins Saturday

HOUSTON – After weather forced a shift in the schedule, the University of Houston Tennis team begins the Head Coach Katarina Adamovic era when it hosts UT Arlington at noon, Saturday, to open the regular season at the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility. Fans can attend the match free of charge.

ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Houston and UT Arlington meet for the second-straight season with the Mavericks taking the last match in Houston, 4-1 (Feb. 24, 2024).

The Mavericks lead the all-time series, 6-3, including winning the last four meetings. Houston last defeated UT Arlington, 4-3, on March 5, 2006.

LAST TIME OUT
In their final preseason tournament, the Cougars tallied 13 singles victories including perfect weekends from fifth-year Santa Strombacha and sophomore Elizaveta Morozova at the FIU Invitational in Miami, Fla.

With a 6-0, 6-3 victory over FIU's No. 80 Ekaterina Khairutdinova, Strombacha notched the highest rated win of her career.

Six of the seven Cougars earned two singles victories and Strombacha and Morozova teamed up for two doubles victories on the weekend.

UP NEXT
The Cougars continue action at the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility with a midweek match up against North Texas at noon, Wednesday. Houston ends the week hosting Tarleton State at 1 p.m., Friday, Jan. 31.
