PREVIEW: Men's Golf Represented in Two Tournaments Starting Sunday

LAKE FOREST, Ill. & HOUSTON – The University of Houston Men's Golf program will compete in a pair of tournaments, beginning Sunday morning.

As a team, the Cougars will tee off at the Windon Memorial Classic at Conway Farms Golf Club in Lake Forest, Ill., on Sunday morning. It will be the second team-scoring tournament during Houston's fall schedule.

Schools will play 36 holes beginning with an 8:30 a.m., shotgun start Sunday with a split-tee start for the Final Round starting at 7:55 a.m., Monday.

Juniors Bryant Hiskey II and Ruben Lindsay and sophomore Grant Doggett will compete as individuals at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic, beginning Monday morning at Westwood Golf Club in Houston in a recent addition to the Cougars' fall schedule.

That Cougar trio will play 36 holes Monday with the Final Round teeing off Tuesday morning.

ABOUT the COUGARS
Under the leadership of Director of Golf Jonathan Dismuke, the Cougars will be represented by sophomore Chi Chun Chen, senior Jacob Borow, senior Wolfgang Glawe, junior Hudson Weibel and senior Laurenz Schiergen.

In the season-opening Argent Financial Classic on Sept. 8-10, Borow opened with consecutive sub-par rounds, including a 69 in the Second Round and tied for fifth with Chen at 3-under 213 at Squire Creek Country Club in Choudrant, La.

Chen earned a personal-best finish with his performance while Borow tallied the fifth Top-Five showing of his career.

Glawe posted consecutive rounds of even-par 72 during the final two days of the Argent Financial Classic and tied for 14^th at 217 to join them among the Top-20 leaders.

Hiskey and Lindsay will make their season debuts at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic on Monday morning. Doggett competed as an individual at the Argent Financial Classic, tying for 83^rd.

TEAM FIELD
The Cougars will compete in a 16-team field against Arizona, Augusta, UC Davis, East Tennessee State, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Marquette, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Purdue, Pepperdine, Purdue, South Florida and host Northwestern.

Hiskey, Lindsay and Doggett will face student-athletes from Houston Christian, ULM, LSU, UT Rio Grande Valley, UT Arlington, Wichita State, Sam Houston, Lamar, Samford, Baylor, Abilene Christian and host Rice.

TEE TIMES
For Sunday's Windon Memorial Classic First Round, Houston will compete in groups with student-athletes from Marquette, Purdue and UC Davis in an 8:30 a.m., shotgun start.

Chen begins the day off No. 9 with Borow (No. 10), Glawe (No. 11), Schiergen (first group off No. 12) and Weibel (second group off No.12) following.

UP NEXT
Following the Windon Memorial Classic, Houston tees off at the Big 12 Match Play Tournament at The Clubs at Houston Oaks in Hockley, Texas on Oct. 7-9. A year ago, the Cougars upset No. 2 seed Oklahoma in the First Round and finished fourth.

The Cougars then close their fall season at the White Sands Intercollegiate at The Ocean Club in Paradise Island, Bahamas, on Oct. 25-27.
