Sophomore goalkeeper Olivia Dietrich enters top-10 in career saves in program history
AUSTIN, Texas – The University of Houston soccer team dropped its 2024 season opener on the road against #17 Texas, 1-0, on Thursday evening at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
Texas (1-0) got out to the early lead when Madison Haugen found the NCAA's active leader in goals, Lexi Missimo, who went past sophomore goalkeeper Olivia Dietrich on a one-on-one to score in the 11th minute of the match.
That would be the only goal for the evening as Dietrich recorded seven saves for the Cougars (0-1). Dietrich's seven saves against Texas moves her into 10th in program history in career saves.
Houston's best chance came in the 59th minute when junior forward Cameryn Maddox tried to find the corner of the net before Mia Justus made the stop.
Freshman midfielder Casey Maddox made her first collegiate start while Savannah Tafireyi made her collegiate debut.
