Miller’s Hat Trick Helps Cougars Stand Tall Against Sam Houston

Junior Skylar Miller records Cougars' first hat trick since 2024
HOUSTON — Junior Skylar Miller's hat trick led the University of Houston soccer team to a 5-0 victory against Sam Houston at the Carl Lewis International Complex on Thursday evening.
Houston (3-1-3) got the party started with a header from Miller, her first of three on the night, in the 14th minute off an assist by junior Jada Arthurs. Miller would bag her second of the night in the 18th minute unassisted.
In the 41st minute, sophomore Bailey Cate would turn and blast one into the bottom right corner for her only goal of the night off of an assist by freshman Elle Sloan.
Miller would get her third goal of the game in the 49th minute off an assist by junior Casey Maddox. Miller's hat trick is the first for the Cougars since Juliet Moore on Sept. 1, 2024 against Texas State.
To close the show, sophomore Madyson Bentil would get her first goal of the season in the 83rd minute off a corner swung in by senior Ava Shannon.
Freshman Goalkeeper Delilah Burns made her first career appearance late in the game to close out the Cougar's clean sheet, marking Houston's fourth clean sheet of the season.

Houston wraps up non conference action when they host Texas Southern at 6 p.m. Sunday. The Cougars will celebrate 10 seniors following the match against the Tigers. Fans are also encouraged to wear red for a Red Out. Red rally towels will be available while supplies last.
