Cougars record seven hits, but drop Sunday’s game to Knights
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Softball team struggled to contain UCF's offense in a 7-2 loss to the Knights at Cougar Softball Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Sarah Willis (8-5) picked up her second win of the weekend after allowing two runs on five hits and two walks as UCF improved to 25-15 with a 10-8 mark in Big 12 play. Shelby Smith (10-9) took the loss in the circle for Houston (22-20, 3-15 Big 12), ceding four runs in four innings.

1st | UCF grabbed the lead in the top of the first as an Ashleigh Griffin single plated two.
Houston quickly responded in the bottom of the first. Beautae led off the frame with a single through the left side, stole second, advanced to third on an error, then scored on a sacrifice fly from freshman Bethany Aguilar.
4th | The Cougars tied the game in the bottom of the fourth. After Coleman led off the inning with a triple, freshman Mikalah Nitta plated the junior with a single through the left side to even the score at 2-2.
5th | UCF reclaimed the lead with a pair of runs in the fifth as Chloe Evans and Griffin hit back-to-back homers, putting the Knights up 4-2.
6th | The Knights added an additional three runs in the sixth to cap the scoring. With two runners in scoring position, Sierra Humphreys singled home the first run while Evans followed up with a two-run double in the next at-bat, sealing a 7-2 win for UCF.
