Six Cougars ready for participation at the CRWC Natatorium this week

HOUSTON – The University of Houston Swimming & Diving team has six divers slated to compete at the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships, hosted by Houston at the CRWC Natatorium, taking place Monday through Wednesday.

Chase Farris, Josie Graves, Hedda Grelz, Alexa Massari, Michelle McLeod and Emilia Waters compete for the Cougars, all hoping to clinch a qualification for the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships in Athens, Ga., from March 20-24.

Farris, Graves, Grelz, Massari and McLeod will dive in all three events while Waters will participate in the 1- and 3-meter.

Zone D Championships kick off on Monday at 11:45 a.m., with the 1-meter prelims. Finals for the event will run later in the day at 2:45 p.m. On Tuesday, the Cougars will dive in the 3-meter at 11:45 a.m., with finals at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday's competition begins with platform prelims at 11:45 a.m., followed by the finals at 1:45 p.m.

Zone D holds some of the most qualification spots for the NCAA Championships with 11 in the 1-meter and nine each in the 3-meter and platform. A diver who qualifies in any of the three events is also eligible for the other two events, provided they finish in the top 12 in the latter events at Zones.
