PREVIEW: Cougars Return to Fertitta Center Wednesday Against Cyclones

HOUSTON – The University of Houston Women's Basketball program is back at Fertitta Center as it hosts Iowa State for the first time in program history at 7 p.m., Wednesday for its Black History Month celebration.

TODAY'S GAME

Houston and Iowa State meet for the first time in program history.
Wednesday marks the lone head-to-head season meeting between Houston and Iowa State.
This marks the first meeting between Head Coaches Bill Fennelly and Ronald Hughey.
The Cougars are 3-0 against first time opponents this season after defeating Air Force, Grambling State and Florida A&M.
Houston looks to pick up its first home win this season during the month of February and look to win back-to-back games for the first time since defeating BYU and TCU (Jan. 10, Jan. 12).
The Cougars are 31-33 in the month of February under Head Coach Ronald Hughey.

LAST TIME OUT

Houston picked up its first road Big 12 Conference victory as it defeated Oklahoma State, 65-57, inside Gallagher-Iba Arena on Saturday.
Houston proved why it leads the conference in bench points as it outscored Oklahoma State's bench, 37-8.
Graduate guard N'Yah Boyd recorded 14 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and zero turnovers, while redshirt senior Shalexxus Aaron (4-of-8) and graduate guard Britney Onyeje (3-of-8) recorded seven of the Cougars' 11 3-pointers coming off the bench.

Houston's bench ranks #1 in the Big 12 and #13 nationally, averaging 27.4 points per game.
The Cougars average 11.5 steals per game to land them at the #2 spot in the Big 12 and #13 in the country.
Houston has three Cougars in the 1,000-point club: Laila Blair 1,529; N'Yah Boyd 1,184; Patterson 1,032.
Blair is now the eighth all-time scorer in program history at 1,529 career-points.
Graduate guard Britney Onyeje (953) is 47 points away from reaching 1,000 career points with Houston.
Both Onyeje (205) and Laila Blair (189) have their eyes set on the Houston all-time three-pointers made record of 226 set by Brittney Scott (2007-11).
Onyeje is second all-time on the three-pointers made list.
Blair (189) sits at third all-time on the three-pointers made list, surpassing Chandi Jones (188, 2000-04).
