HOUSTON – University of Houston women's basketball closes non-conference action against Mississippi Valley State at 11 a.m., Tuesday, for its annual Education Day game.

THE GAME
- Houston closes non-conference action at home against Mississippi Valley State on Tuesday.

- Graduate guard Laila Blair is 49 points away from reaching third on Houston's all-time scoring list.
- Blair is 19 made 3-pointers from breaking the school record in 3-pointers made.
- Behind a double-double from redshirt senior guard Leilani Augmon, Houston outlasted Southeastern Louisiana, 70-65, inside Fertitta Center (Dec. 8).
- Houston opened the game with just seven available players and had its top two leading scorers foul out.
- For a second-straight game, Laila Blair led the team in points with 19, followed by Eylia Love's 17 points. Sophomore guard Kierra Merchant posted 14 while Augmon recorded her first double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
- Houston returns All-Big 12 Conference Honorable Mention selection Laila Blair for the 2024-25 season. Blair reached 200 career 3-pointers made vs. Minnesota (Nov. 29).
- The Cougars return five players from the 2023-24 roster: Kierra Merchant, Gigi Cooke, Laila Blair, Avalon Miller and Peyton McFarland.
- Houston welcomes transfers Leilani Augmon (Troy), Summer Bostock (Maryland), Ashley Chevalier (Texas Tech) and Eylia Love (Louisville) to the squad this season.
- Redshirt senior forward Avalon Miller (Achilles), senior guards Maliyah Johnson (ACL) and Kateri Poole (ACL) will miss the season after suffering season-ending injuries.
- Assistant Coach Chynna Grimes will miss the first two months of the season after the arrival of her daughter, Capri, on Nov. 4.
