Soccer Welcomes rv UCF For Thursday Big 12 Home Opener

HOUSTON – The University of Houston Soccer program continues Big 12 Conference play against rv UCF for its conference home opener at 7 p.m., Thursday at the Carl Lewis International Complex.

After losing on the road in Lubbock, the Cougars will face long-time opponent UCF, in their first game as Big 12 rivals.

The game will be streamed on Big 12 Now on ESPN+ with Matt Pedersen (play-by-play), Alex Parra (analyst) and Alexx Holmes (sideline) calling the action. Live stats will be available here.

ABOUT THE COUGARS

Houston is in its second season under Head Coach Jaime Frias.
The Cougars are 6-2-1 on the season and 0-1 in conference play.
Houston fell to Texas Tech in its Big 12 season opener, 3-0, on Thursday, in Lubbock, Texas. This marked the Cougars' first road loss this season.
Sophomore forward Cameryn Maddox leads Houston with seven goals.
Junior midfielder Juliet Moore leads the team with five assists.

The Knights are 5-2-0 on the season and 1-0 in conference play.

Fifth-year forward Dayana Martin leads the Knights with four assists.
In its last match, UCF won its first Big 12 Conference game with a 4-2 victory against West Virginia on Thursday. Dayana Martin, Ellie Moreno, Chloe Netzel and an own goal by the Mountaineers sealed the victory for the Knights.

HISTORY WITH KNIGHTS

UCF leads the series, 16-2-1.
In the last matchup with UCF, the Knights earned a 1-0 win (Oct. 23, 2022) with Kristen Scott scoring the winning goal to give UCF the 2022 American regular season championship title.
Houston last defeated UCF in a 1-0 decision (Sept. 16, 2021) with Jazmin Grant scoring the lone goal of the match.

UP NEXT
Houston continues its home schedule as it welcomes Oklahoma at 1 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 24, for Houston Youth Soccer Day at the Carl Lewis International Complex.

The Cougars then will travel to Ames, Iowa, as they face Iowa State for the first time in program history at 6 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 28., at the Cyclone Soccer Complex.

Current University of Houston students may claim one ticket at no cost to all home soccer matches. Students can claim their tickets by presenting their valid UH student IDs at the gate.

Single-game tickets are now available to purchase for $10 per match. Season tickets are also available to purchase for only $42 with family plans (four season tickets) starting at $100.

Mobile tickets can also be purchased at game time at the ticket booth located at Schroeder Park (baseball), adjacent to the Carl Lewis International Complex.
