Sophomore named Big 12 Conference Runner of the Week
HOUSTON – Houston cross country sophomore Miles Cox was named Big 12 Conference Runner of the Week, announced by the league on Tuesday.
Cox led the men's team to a second-place finish at the Texas A&M Invitational with a personal best 8k time of 24:12.4, finishing third overall in a field of 133. It marked Cox's first-career team-leading performance.
The sophomore from Amarillo, Texas, helped lead the men to the school's first competition in which a Houston team finished with a better result against a Big 12 member, beating TCU which finished fourth.
Cox is the first male cross country athlete to earn conference weekly honors since Jemal Wote in 2019.
