PREVIEW: Cross Country to Compete at NCAA South Central Regionals

Cougars continue postseason action on Friday in Fayetteville, Ark.
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Houston Cross Country program will send six individuals to compete at the 2025 NCAA South Central Regionals in Fayetteville, Ark., on Friday at Agri Park.
The women will open the event with the 6k at 9 a.m., and the men will follow with the 10k at 10 a.m. Live results can be found here
On the men's side, freshman Zac Miller and sophomore Caden Thurman will represent the Cougars. The women will send freshman Sophia Nguyen, redshirt freshman Addison Hite and sophomores Cadence Patterson and Lily Campos.
The first four individuals not on the top two teams will advance to the 2025 NCAA Championships on Saturday, Nov. 22, in Columbia, Mo.
LAST TIME OUT
At the Big 12 Cross Country Championship, both the men's and women's squads placed 10th overall.
The women's 10th place finish marked their highest finish since joining the Big 12 in 2023. The men finished 10th for a third consecutive year with the aid of Miller's 48th-place finish, the first top 50 result for the men's team in the Big 12 era.
Miller paced the Cougars for a fourth consecutive meet, placing 48th with a time of 24:31, followed by sophomore Remay Abraha (67th, 25:06.2), junior Patrick Flowers (71st, 25:16.7), Thurman (72nd, 25:19.7) and junior Aaron Crittenden (75th, 25:23.9).
On the women's side, Hite led the team for the fourth consecutive meet in 45th place (21:00), followed by Patterson (56th, 21:24.3), Campos (75th, 22:02), Nguyen (83rd, 22:15.7), and sophomore AnnClaire Cop (117th, 23:13).
