Soccer Falls Short Against Texas State on Senior Night

Houston ends non-conference slate with a 1-0 loss against the Bobcats
HOUSTON– The University of Houston Soccer program closed its non-conference slate with a 1-0 defeat to Texas State on Sunday evening at the Carl Lewis International Complex.
Before the start of the match, the Cougars honored their eight seniors – Ava Alaniz, Maddie Bowers, Allie Byrd, Cordelia Cross, Mikaela Gracia, Nadia Kamassah, Caitlyn Matthews and Genaye Sanders – for their contributions to the program.
Houston (6-1-1) outshot Texas State (4-3), 18-12, with 11 shots on frame and held the corner kick advantage, 9-5.
Sophomore forward Cameryn Maddox led the team with four shots, while Matthews posted three shots on frame.
Following a free kick, Texas State sealed the victory in the 75th minute of play as Victoria Meza scored the lone goal of the match to give the Bobcats the victory.
UP NEXT
The Cougars will open Big 12 Conference action as they head to Lubbock, Texas, to take on Texas Tech at 7 p.m., Thursday. The match will be streamed on Big 12 Now on ESPN+, with live stats available here.
Houston then will return to the Carl Lewis International Complex at 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 21, as it hosts UCF for its Big 12 home opener.
TICKETS
Students can claim one ticket at no cost to all home soccer matches. Students can claim their tickets by presenting their student IDs at the gate.
Single game tickets are now available to purchase for $10 per match. Season tickets are also still available to purchase for only $42 with family plans (four season tickets) starting at $100.
Mobile tickets can also be purchased at game time at the ticket booth located at Schroeder Park (baseball), adjacent to the Carl Lewis International Complex.
