Cougars tee off at Pelican Club on Friday morning
BELLEAIR, Fla. – The University of Houston Men's Golf program begins the postseason when it tees off Friday morning at the American Athletic Conference Championships at Pelican Golf Club.
Schools will play 18 holes each day through Sunday, beginning with a 7 a.m. (CDT) Friday start on the 6,881-yard, par-72 course.

ABOUT the COUGARS
Under the leadership of Director of Golf Jonathan Dismuke, the Cougars will be represented by junior Santiago De La Fuente, sophomore Wolfgang Glawe, sophomore Jacob Borow, super senior Braxton Watkins and senior Austyn Reily.
This season, De La Fuente leads the Cougars with a 70.72 scoring average, 22 rounds of par or better, including 10 in the 60s and five Top-10 finishes. The Guadalajara, Mexico, native has placed among the Top-15 leaders in all but one tournament in 2022-23 with medalist honors at the Border Olympics in Laredo, Texas, on Feb. 13-14.
Glawe stands second on the team with a 72.36 scoring average and 16 sub-par rounds and has made a strong surge in the second half of the spring season. The St. Leon-Rot, Germany, native tied for 12th with three straight rounds of par or lower at the Cougars' All-American Intercollegiate at Golf Club of Houston.
TEAM FIELD
#49 Houston will face student-athletes from schools in a 9-team field from #40 Cincinnati, UCF, SMU, Memphis, South Florida, East Carolina, Wichita State and Temple.
PAIRINGS
For Friday's First Round, the Cougars will compete in groups with student-athletes from #40 Cincinnati and UCF.
Reily will start the day at 9:10 a.m. (CDT), off No. 1 with Borow (9:23 a.m. CDT), Watkins (9:36 a.m. CDT), Glawe (9:49 a.m. CDT) and De La Fuente (10:02 a.m. CDT) following.

LAST TIME OUT
In the regular-season team finale, the Cougars tied for sixth with a score of 871 at the Aggie Invitational at Traditions Club in Bryan-College Station, Texas, on April 10-11.
De La Fuente lowered his scored with each round and closed the tournament with a 70 to tie for 17th at even-par 216. It was the eighth time he led the Cougars at an event.

Following the American Athletic Conference Championships, Houston looks to compete in NCAA Regional play. The 2023 NCAA Regionals will be held at six sites across the nation on May 15-17: Auburn University Club (Auburn, Ala.); Eagle Eye (Bath, Michigan); Bear's Best Las Vegas (Las Vegas); The Institute Golf Club (Morgan Hill, Calif.); Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club (Norman, Okla.) and The Cliffs at Keowee Falls (Salem, S.C.).
The Top Five teams and the low individual not on a qualifying team at each NCAA Regional will advance to the NCAA Championships set for May 26-31 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
The Cougars will learn their NCAA postseason fate during the NCAA Selection Show. That show will air at Noon, Wednesday, May 3, on Golf Channel.
