Houston travels to Fayetteville, Ark., to compete at the NCAA South Central Region Championships
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Graduate Claire Meyer and senior Branch Cox look to lead the University of Houston cross country program at the NCAA South Central Regional Championships on Friday in Fayetteville, Ark.

The women's team will run a 6k race for the third meet in a row and the men will run their first 10k race on the season at Arkansas' Agri Park.
At the Big 12 Conference Championship, Meyer led the women to a 13th place finish when she finished 45th overall and a time of 21:17.7 in the 6k-race. The men's team finished 10th, highlighted by Cox's 40th overall finish when he crossed the line at 24:13.5 in the 8k-race.
Senior Kelly-Ann Beckford crossed the line next for the women in Ames, Iowa, making it her third meet in a row finishing second for the Cougars. Beckford will not compete at the NCAA South Central Regional.
On the men's side, senior Brandon Seagreaves led Houston with sophomore Miles Cox right behind him. Along with Branch Cox, the three have been the top three finishers for the Cougars all season in meets which they started.
In the 2022 regional, Meyer finished 15th overall and the women finished 12th overall, their best finish since 2018. Seagreaves also performed well, finishing 22nd overall, the highest finish since Brian Barazza's second-place finish in 2017.
Houston will compete against teams from Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas.
