#6/6 Men’s Hoops Ready for Charleston Classic Title Game

Cougars meet Dayton at 7:30 p.m. (CST) Sunday inside TD Arena
CHARLESTON, S.C. – Coming off two hard-fought wins, the #6/6 University of Houston Men's Basketball program returns to action when it meets Dayton at 7:30 p.m. (CST) Sunday in the Title Game of the Shriners Children's Charleston Classic inside TD Arena.
The Cougars earned their trip to the Title Game with a 76-66 win over Utah in the Semifinals on Friday night. Sophomore guard Emanuel Sharp came off the bench to pour in 15 points while senior guard LJ Cryer finished with 14 points and buried two key 3-pointers late after the Utes erased Houston's lead in the second half.
Senior point guard Jamal Shead did a little of everything for the Cougars with 14 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals. The Manor, Texas, native needs only seven more assists to become the seventh student-athlete in school history to reach 500 in his career.
Senior forward J'Wan Roberts scored 13 points and led all players with 12 rebounds for his and the Cougars' first double-double of the season and the 10th of his career. It was his second straight game with double-digit rebounds after snaring 11 boards in the First-Round game against Towson in the first meeting between the two schools.
This season, Cryer leads the Cougars and ranks ninth in the Big 12 with 15.4 points per game. Roberts stands seventh in the league with 8.0 rebounds per contest while ranks among the Big 12 Top-10 leaders in both assists (6.6 apg, 2nd) and steals (3.0 spg, 3rd).
