Cougars close 2023 competition with a trip to College Station, Texas
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The University of Houston Swimming & Diving team concludes its competition in 2023 with the Art Adamson Invitational at Texas A&M beginning Wednesday.Â

The Cougars will face off against the host Aggies, who are receiving votes in the CSCAA Poll, as well as #23 UCLA, rv LSU, Utah, Washington State, San Diego State and Rockhurst.Â

LAST TIME OUT
Houston dominated in their dual meet against Tulane, winning 175-68. The Cougars won 11 of 13 events and captured 28 of 39 possible podium spots in New Orleans.Â

BIG 12 HONORS
After finishing as the Houston Diving Invitational's top diver, fifth year Chase Farris was selected as the Big 12 Diver of the Week on Oct. 18. Farris earned the top spot in both the 1-meter and platform competitions while also finishing second in the 3-meter event.Â

Elizabeth Jimenez has also earned weekly honors from the league, being named Big 12 Co-Newcomer of the Week on Oct. 11 after setting two program top-10 times at the Dust Off Your Boots Invitational.Â

NCAA CUTS
Houston's six divers have earned a combined 15 NCAA Zone Cuts this season. Farris, Josie Graves, Hedda Grelz and Michelle McLeod have captured qualifications in all three diving events. Emilia Waters has Zone Cuts in the 1-meter and 3-meter events while Alexa Massari has a Zone Cut in the platform competition.

PAN AM GAMES
The Cougars had three representatives at the Pan Am Games in Santiago, Chile with competitions running from Oct. 21 through Oct. 25.Â

Alondra Ortiz (Costa Rica) earned two A Finals appearances, finishing sixth in the 200-meter butterfly and seventh in the 400-meter individual medley. She also placed 17th in the 200-meter individual medley.

Elizabeth Jimenez (Dominican Republic) and Danielle Titus (Barbados) both swam in the 100- and 200-meter backstroke. Jimenez finished 19th and 20thin the events while Titus took 20th and 24th, respectively.

Wednesday: 500 freestyle, 200 Individual Medley, 50 Freestyle, 200 Freestyle Relay (finals only), 400 medley relay (finals only); 3-meter diving

Thursday: 400 Individual Medley, 100 Butterfly, 200 Freestyle, 100 Breaststroke, 100 Backstroke, 800 Freestyle Relay (finals only), 200 Medley Relay (finals only); 1-meter diving
Friday: 200 Backstroke, 100 Freestyle, 200 Breaststroke, 200 Butterfly, 1650 Freestyle (Finals only), 400 Freestyle Relay (finals only); platform diving

Preliminary heats will be conducted in long course meters (LCM) while final heats will be swam in short course yards (SCY).Â

Following the team's winter break, the Cougars return to action with a home dual meet against rv Texas A&M on Jan. 11 at the CRWC Natatorium. Admission to the meet is free.
