Titus, Jimenez, Ortiz Complete Competition at Pan Am Games

Three swimmers competed in five different events
SANTIAGO, Chile – The University of Houston's Swimming & Diving team had its three student-athletes complete their events at the Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile on Wednesday morning. Elizabeth Jimenez (Dominican Republic), Alondra Ortiz (Costa Rica) and Danielle Titus (Barbados) represented the Cougars at the Games.Â

Ortiz swam in three events: the 200-meter butterfly and the 200- and 400-meter individual medleys. She earned spots in the A Final in both the 200 butterfly and 400 IM, finishing in sixth and seventh in those events by swimming 2:15.58 and 4:59.34, respectively. She completed her competition on Wednesday with a 2:24.60 mark in the 200 IM, earning her 17th in the event.

Jimenez swam in both the 100- and 200-meter backstrokes. She finished in 19th and 20th in the events with times of 1:04.43 and 2:22.11, respectively. Titus also competed in the 100 and 200 backstrokes. The senior tallied a 1:04.66 to take 20th in the 100 backstroke and a 2:26.90 to earn 24th in the 200 backstroke.Â
