Cougars Head to Beaumont

Houston continues month of August on road
BEAUMONT, Texas – The University of Houston Soccer program (0-0-1) will look for its first win of the 2022 season at 7 p.m. Sunday with a match against Lamar from the LU Soccer Complex in Beaumont, Texas.

ABOUT THE COUGARS
The Cougars kicked off the 2022 campaign with a 1-1 draw Thursday night against Oklahoma at John Crain Field in Norman, Okla.
Houston got the ball rolling early, scoring its first goal of the season in the 12th minute of action as midfielder Samantha Wiehe converted a penalty kick into the bottom center of the net.
Goalkeeper Haley Woodward had her first career start with the Cougars, posting six saves with five coming in the first half.
SCOUTING THE CARDINALS
The Cardinals will kick off their season against Houston on Sunday. Lamar is entering its first season under Head Coach Nathan Kogut. Last season, Lamar posted an overall record of 10-8-2, including a semifinal appearance in the 2021 Western Athletic Conference Tournament.
Lamar and Houston currently split the all-time series, 1-1-1. In the last meeting, the Cougars defeated the Cardinals, 3-0 on Sept. 2, 2021, at the Carl Lewis International Complex, with goals from forward Nadia Kamassah, defender Emma Clarke and forward Janna Singleton.
