Divers Set to Compete at Zone Diving Championships

Six Cougars vying for spots at NCAA Championships
MADISON, Wisc. – Six University of Houston divers are set to compete at the 2022 NCAA Zone D Championships, taking place Monday through Wednesday at the Soderholm Aquatic Center on the campus of the University of Wisconsin.

Preliminary action begins at 11 a.m. each day. The top 18 divers in each event will move onto finals.

Fresh from earning the 3-meter title and a third-place finish at the platform at the 2022 American Athletic Conference Championships, Chase Farris will compete in both events in Wisconsin. This will mark her third appearance at the competition. At the 2021 NCAA Zone D Championships, Farris qualified for the platform and placed 18th at the 2021 NCAA Division I Swimming & Diving Championships.

Katie Deininger will compete in both the 1-meter and the 3-meter in her third straight appearance at the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships.

Jolie Blodgett will compete in the 1-meter and the platform, marking her second appearance as a Cougar at the Zone D Championships.

Sophomore Hedda Grelz will be making her second appearance, competing in the 1-meter and 3-meter.
Â
Emilia Waters will be making her first appearance at the competition, representing the Cougars at the 1-meter and at the 3-meter events. Waters earned a second-place podium finish at the 1-meter at the 2022 American Athletic Conference Championships.Â
Freshman Josie Graves will be making her first appearance at the competition, representing Houston at the 3-meter and at the platform.
The top 10 finishers in the 1-meter, the top 11 finishers in the 3-meter and the top nine finishers in the Platform will advance to the NCAA Division I Swimming & Diving Championships, March 16-19 in Atlanta at Georgia Tech's McAuley Aquatic Center.
