Benavides hits first home run of 2022 in American Conference opening game loss
HOUSTON – The Houston softball team fell to Tulsa 9-1 in five innings from the Collins Family Softball Complex on Friday.
The Hurricane (12-17, 1-0 American) scored six runs in the fourth inning and three in the fifth to down the Cougars (16-16, 0-1 American).
The Cougars threw three different pitchers in the fourth inning as the Hurricane scored six runs on five hits.
Redshirt senior Rock Benavides hit her first home run of 2022 in the top off the fifth inning in the loss.
Tulsa then scored three runs in the fifth inning via two doubles and two errors to win via run-rule.

Houston continues its three-game American Conference opening series on Saturday from Collins Family Softball Complex at 2 p.m. CT.
