SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS. UCF is the team to beat in the American Conference. The Knights are the top team in the conference with a 8-1 record in conference play and a 16-3 over all record. UCF is currently on a four game win streak and has won the American Player of the Week back-to-back.
Double DOUBLE-DOUBLE. Against SMU both Taytana Hill and Bria Patterson recorded double-doubles. It was Hill's second double-double of the season and Patterson's first. Patterson tallied 12 points with 11 rebounds while Hill contributed 11 points and 11 boards.
LOSING STREAK SNAPPED. With its 65-64 win over Tulsa, the Houston women's basketball team snapped a six game losing streak. After starting conference play on a 2-0 winning streak, the Cougars drop six-straight games. Their last conference win was against Tulsa at home and snapped the streak beating the Golden Hurricane on their home court and followed it up with a win at SMU
MIXING IT UP. Despite only losing one starter from last season, the Cougars have recorded 11 different starting lineups throughout the season. Faced with injury, Houston has had to rely heavily on its depth. Britney Onyeje was the only player to have started all the games this season before missing the game against Memphis with an injury.
100 WINS. Head Coach Ronald Hughey is only one win away from the 100th career win. This is Hughey's 8th season with the Cougars and holds a 99-133 overall record.
AGAINST SMU. Patterson recorded 12 points to go with 11 rebounds for her first double-double of the season and second of her career. Hill scored 11 points with 11 rebounds for her second double-double of the season and eighth of her career. Hill also tallied a career-high six blocks in the game.
75 YEARS of HOUSTON ATHLETICS. During the 2021-22 season, Houston Athletics will celebrate its 75th anniversary by recognizing its championship tradition, award-winning student-athletes and coaches and memorable moments from its rich history.
