
Houston Opens Fall Season at Marquette Intercollegiate

Three-day, 54-hole event begins Sunday at Erin Hills Golf Course
HARTFORD, Wis. – The University of Houston Men's Golf program begins its 2021-22 season when it tees off at the Marquette Intercollegiate at Erin Hills on Sunday at Erin Hills Golf Course.
This will be the first fall tournament in which the Cougars will compete since winning the White Sands Invitational in the Bahamas on Nov. 1-3, 2019. The COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of the 2020 Fall season.

ABOUT the COUGARS
Under the leadership of Director of Golf Jonathan Dismuke, the Cougars will be represented by senior Andrew Gibson, redshirt freshman Jacob Borow, senior Alexander Frances, junior Austyn Reily and junior Marcus Wochner.
Redshirt freshman Drew Murdock, senior Braxton Watkins and freshman Julio Rios-Brache will compete as individuals.
Frances was an All-American Athletic Conference performer a year ago, leading the Cougars with a 72.43 scoring average and 11 rounds of par or better, including four in the 60s.
Reily tied for second among the Cougars with nine rounds of par or better and tied for third at the season-opening Rice Intercollegiate with a score of 3-under 141. Gibson tied for the team's low round of the season in 2021 with a 6-under 66 in the Final Round of the Bayou City Collegiate Classic at Westwood Golf Club in Houston.
Borow, Wochner, Murdock and Rios-Brache will make their debuts as Cougars on Sunday. Borow and Murdock sat out a year ago while redshirting, while Rios-Brache is appearing in his first collegiate event. Wochner was an award-winning student-athlete at Wichita State in 2020-21, finishing second at The American Championships.

Following the Erin Hills Intercollegiate, the Cougars compete at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate at Squire Creek Country Club in Choudrant, La., on Sept. 12-14.
From there, Houston will tee off at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational on Oct. 4-6 at Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Ark. The Cougars will join with their UH female counterparts at that event, which will air on GOLF Channel each day.
