Houston Soccer Earns Senior Night Win

HOUSTON – Houston Soccer (9-1-1) earned its senior class an 8-1 win on Senior Night against Arkansas Pine Bluff (4-6-0) on Friday at the Carl Lewis International Complex. The large-margin win is the biggest win for the Cougars since 2005 when Houston defeated Nicholls State 10-0.

The eight seniors were joined by family, friends, and teammates to honor their accomplishments during their time spent as Cougars. Two members of the senior class earned the first goal for Houston in the 20^th minute. Jazmin Grant, with an assist by Natalie Anderson, shot the ball to the bottom left of the net to put the Cougars on the board.

Soon after in the 39^th minute, redshirt-freshman CeCe Cross shot the second goal of the match unassisted leading into halftime, 2-0.

Following the conclusion of halftime, the Cougars came out on the pitch ready to score. Zionah Browne shot a penalty kick straight into the net bringing the score to 3-0. Adriana Hutson did not waste much time following up with another point scoring unassisted to the bottom left of the goal in the 57^th minute.

Arkansas Pine Bluff scored an own goal in the 71^st minute adding another point to the tally for the Cougars. Sophomore Addie Tate recorded two assists in the next two points for Houston aiding the scoring efforts of Kaylee Dressback and then Morgan Goode. To seal the deal, Janna Singleton was assisted by Emma Colvin to score the eighth and final goal in the 89^th minute.

The Cougars are set to begin a three-game road trip starting with USF in Tampa on Thursday.

UP NEXT
The Cougars will not be back at home until Oct.10 where it will host ECU at the Carl Lewis International Complex for a Noon kickoff.
