NCAA Men’s Golf Selection Show Set for Wednesday, May 5

Show to air at 1 p.m. (CDT) on Golf Channel
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Men's Golf program will learn its postseason fate during the NCAA Selection Show, starting at 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 5, on GOLF Channel.
Selection coverage will be the start of coverage of the 2021 NCAA Men's Golf Championships by GOLF Channel. The network will provide highlights from Regional play leading up to coverage of the NCAA Championships to be held at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
GOLF Channel has provided live coverage of the NCAA Championships since 2014.

The 2021 NCAA Regionals will be held May 17-19 at one of six sites across the country: The Sagamore Club (hosted by Ball State, Noblesville, Ind.); Seminole Legacy Golf Club (hosted by Florida State, Tallahassee, Fla.); Championship Course at UNM (hosted by New Mexico, Albuquerque, N.M.); Karsten Creek Golf Club (hosted by Oklahoma State, Stillwater, Okla.); Golf Club of Tennessee (hosted by Vanderbilt, Kingston Springs, Tenn.) and Tumble Creek Golf & Country Club (hosted by Washington, Cle Elum, Wash.)
The low five teams and the low individual not from those teams at each NCAA Regional site will compete at the NCAA Championships, set for May 28-June 2 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
ABOUT the HOUSTON COUGARS
Under the leadership of Director of Golf Jonathan Dismuke, the Cougars have posted three Top-Three team finishes in 2021.
The Cougars opened the spring with a second-place showing at the Rice Intercollegiate and followed that with third-place finishes at the Border Olympics and the Bayou City Collegiate Classic.
This season, senior Alexander Frances leads the Cougars with a 72.55 scoring average and 10 rounds of par or better, including three in the 60s. The Stege, Denmark, native has posted five Top-20 finishes in the seven tournaments in which he has competed, including a season-best fifth place showing at the Border Olympics, thanks to First and Final Round 70s.
Sophomore Austyn Reily stands second on the team with a 73.45 average and is tied with senior Luke Long for second with nine rounds of par or better. The Pottsboro, Texas, native, tied for third at the Rice Intercollegiate to open the year and enjoyed a 15th-place finish at the Border Olympics.
NCAA REGIONAL HISTORY
The Cougars are looking to compete in NCAA Regional play as a team for the 21st time in school history and the first time since 2017.
During its history, the Cougars have enjoyed one NCAA Regional team championship, four individual titles and 14 Top-10 team finishes.
In Houston's most recent appearance, Michael Perras finished 24th at the 2018 NCAA Bryan Regional at Tradbitions Club in Bryan Texas. In the Cougars' most recent appearance as a team, Houston finished 10th at the 2017 NCAA Stanford Regional.
