Cougars wrap up nonconference action
HOUSTON – Coming off its first conference series win of the season, the University of Houston Softball heads RV/RV Texas A&M for its final midweek and nonconference contest of the 2021 campaign.
Despite trailing in the all-time series, 9-19, Houston has found success against Texas A&M recently, having won three of the past four matchups against the Aggies. The last time these two teams faced each other was in the 2019 NCAA Tournament, where Houston defeated Texas A&M, 3-1, in route to advancing to its first regional final since 2011.
Houston has proven its worth as one of the best in the entire state of Texas, having posted a 25-12 (.676) record against opponents from the Lone Star State, dating back to the start of 2019.

- Houston's offense has come alive as of late, having scored at least five runs in seven of its past nine games, including five in a row. In those seven games, the Cougars are batting .316 as a team and holding a slugging percentage of .540.
- The offense put together another impressive week in the series win over East Carolina, batting .367 with a pair of double-digit hit performances against the Pirates. Junior Bethany Busch led all hitters with a .500 average on the weekend, with redshirt senior Lindsey Stewart-Vaughn driving in a team-best eight runs.
- Coming off a strong week is the Cougars' pitching staff, which compiled a 2.75 ERA in the series win over East Carolina. Leading the charge was junior Rachel Hertenberger who posted a 1.26 ERA in 16.2 innings of work, while sophomore Logan Hulon came out of the bullpen and collected a pair of wins.
