Cougars conclude nonconference slate
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Competing in its final midweek contest of the season, the University of Houston Softball team dropped its matchup with Texas A&M by a score of 9-1 on Tuesday.

Tuesday's game against the Aggies (29-13) also marked the Cougars' (13-28) final nonconference contest of the 2021 campaign.

At the plate, sophomore Britaney Shaw paced Houston with a 2-for-3 performance. Redshirt senior Sarah Queen drove in the lone run of the game for UH, doubling home redshirt senior Lindsey Stewart-Vaughn on the play.

Queen extended her hitting streak to seven games, while Stewart-Vaughn stretched hers to six. With her single in the sixth, junior Bethany Busch has now reached base in 12 consecutive games.
KEY INNINGS
2nd | Following a solo home run and the next few batters reaching base, Texas A&M extended its advantage to four.

3rd | After Stewart-Vaughn collected her first hit of the game, Queen doubled her home to put Houston on the board.

4th | Texas A&M recorded three consecutive hits, which was then capitalized by a three-run shot to push the Aggie lead to 7-1.

6th | The Aggies plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning to seal the 9-1 victory.
