Cougars strike first but fall to Knights
ORLANDO, Fla. – The University of Houston Softball team fell to No. 22/24 UCF by a score of 4-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Houston's record moves to 9-17 on the year and 0-3 in American Athletic Conference play, while the UCF sits at 23-6 and 3-0 in The American.
Sophomore Britaney Shaw launched a solo home run well over the leftfield wall in the third inning to give the Cougars the first lead of the game. Her sophomore counterpart, Megan Lee, started the game retiring the first 11 batters she faced, flirting with a perfect game bid through nearly four innings.
KEY INNINGS
3rd | Shaw scored the first run of the game with her third home run of the season that cleared the leftfield wall.
4th | The Knights used a four-run fourth inning to take a 4-1 lead, which proved to be the difference in the game.
