Cougars conclude 10-game stand away from home stadium
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Softball team concludes its 10-game road swing this week, traveling to McNeese for a midweek on Wednesday before heading to No. 22/24 UCF to open American Athletic Conference action March 26-28.
When it comes to shying away from the nation's best teams, Houston is no stranger in that regard. Not only has Houston already competed in 11 games against teams that are either ranked or receiving votes, but the Cougars are primed for another top opponent this weekend, facing No. 22/24 UCF. It is sixth week in a row the Cougars have faced an opponent that is either ranked or receiving votes.

- Houston's pitching staff has been on another level as of late, having surrendered no more than two runs in each of the last three games, which has resulted in a team ERA of 1.69 during that stretch. That same span has also seen the staff hold opposing batters to an average of .224.
- Junior Rachel Hertenberger has been at the forefront of leading the pitching staff, posting an ERA of 1.87 in her past three starts, while holding the opposition to an average of just .196. She's collected two wins during that stretch, with her win over No. 7/7 Oklahoma State being the second in her career over a top-25 team.
- Having started the past 167 games for the Cougars, senior Sarah Queen has been a rock in the Houston lineup for years. A steady presence of consistency, Queen's .375 batting average this season puts her on pace to post back-to-back years with an average above the .330 mark.
