Cougars send tying run to the plate in the seventh
AUSTIN – The University of Houston Softball team dropped its contest against No. RV/25 Mississippi State by a score of 3-0 on Saturday afternoon.
The Cougars now hold a record 5-5 on the season, while the Bulldogs move to 8-3. Freshman Hailey Hudson got the nod in the circle, tossing her second complete game of the year, having struck out three batters and surrendering no walks.
At the plate, seniors Lindsey Stewart-Vaughn and Sarah Queen, along with junior Kati Ray Brown, each went 1-for-3 on the afternoon.
KEY INNINGS
3rd | A three-run home run from the Bulldogs plated the lone runs of the game.
7th | Queen led the inning off with a single right back up the middle. After senior Aspen Howie was hit by a pitch, Brown came to the plate representing the tying run, but was unable to help the Cougars mount a comeback.
