Cougars face the Bearcats for the first time this season
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Women's Basketball team will return to action on Saturday when it travels to Ohio to face Cincinnati.
Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
THE 4-1-1
Houston will head to Cincinnati to face the Bearcats for the first time this season on Saturday. The Cougars are led in scoring by Britney Onyeje who averages 10.9 points per game. Tatyana Hill leads UH on the glass, pulling down 5.7 rebounds per game. Dymond Gladney is the assists leader for the Cougars with 54 this season.
Houston is averaging 68.4 points per game on 39.6 percent shooting from the field and a 30.0 percent mark from beyond the 3-point line. The Cougars allow 62.1 points on defense while letting opponents shoot 38.2 percent and 23.5 percent from the field and beyond the arc, respectively.
Under Coach Hughey, Houston has been one of the most active defensive teams in the country over the past two seasons. The Cougars enter the game with 180 steals this season and 60 blocks, forcing 21.00 turnovers per game.
SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
Cincinnati is in its 3rd season under Head Coach Michelle Clark-Heard. The Bearcats are 4-14 this season and 3-10 in conference play. Cincinnati has dropped two of its last three games, most recently falling to USF in a 65-69 decision. UC is led in scoring and rebounding by IImari'I Thomas who averages 22.2 points per game and 7.6 rebounds per game. Thomas also leads Cincinnati in assists with 58 this season.
The Bearcats average 59.9 points per game on 39.9 percent shooting from the field, including a 23.7 percent mark from the three-point line.

Saturday's meeting is the 27th meeting between the two teams. Houston trails the series, 21-6.

Houston is 26th in the NCAA in steals per game and third in the league.
