Houston Set to Face Memphis in Annual Pink Game

Cougars return home for first time since Jan. 23
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Women's Basketball team returns to action inside the Fertitta Center with a Saturday afternoon meeting with Memphis.
Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m. and the game will air on ESPN+.
THE 4-1-1
Houston returns home for the first time since Jan. 23 when Memphis visits the Fertitta Center. The Cougars are led in scoring by Britney Onyeje who averages 11.4 points per game. Tatyana Hill leads UH on the glass, pulling down 5.5 rebounds per game. Dymond Gladney is the assists leader for the Cougars with 50 this season.
Houston is averaging 68.2 points per game on 39.3 percent shooting from the field and a 30.9 percent mark from beyond the 3-point line. The Cougars allow 62.8 points on defense while letting opponents shoot 38.5 percent and 23.4 percent from the field and beyond the arc, respectively.
Under Coach Hughey, Houston has been one of the most active defensive teams in the country over the past two seasons. The Cougars enter the game with 166 steals this season and 60 blocks, forcing 20.90 turnovers per game.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Memphis is in its 12th season under Head Coach Melissa McFerrin. The Tigers are 4-9 this season and 2-6 in conference play. Memphis has dropped two of its last three games, most recently falling to Cincinnati in a 62-73 decision.
Memphis is led in scoring and rebounding by Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu who averages 15.7 points per game and 11.6 rebounds per game. Ariel Wilson leads Memphis in assists with 93 this season. Memphis averages 61.8 points per game on 39.8 percent shooting from the field, including a 28.5 percent mark from the three-point line.

Saturday's meeting is the 36th meeting between the two teams. Houston trails the series 17-19 after defeating Memphis earlier this season in an 63-75 decision.

Houston has proven itself to be a threat from behind the three-point line, racking up at least six made three's in all but two games this season. Houston leads The American and is ranked 61st nationally with 116 made three-pointers this season. Onyeje leads The American in made three-pointers this season with 36.
H-TOWN LOCKDOWN DEFENSE
The Cougars have shown that they are not afraid to shoot three-pointers and on the flipside they are one of the best at defending the three-point shot. UH ranks second in the league and 6th nationally in three-point FG defense, holding opponents to 23.4 percent from long-range.
SCOOP 'N SCORE
Three times this season UH has forced 30 turnovers by an opponent, This season UH has earned 166 steals and is averaging 10.4 steals per game. Houston is 32nd in the NCAA in steals per game and third in the league. When it comes to forcing turnovers, Houston is one of the best, with a league leading 20.94 forced turnovers per game the Cougars are 15th in the NCAA in the category.
