Laila Blair posted 28 points connecting on six 3-pointers
CANCUN, Mex. – Laila Blair recorded a career-high 28 points in the final game of the Cancun Challenge as Houston lost to No. 6 Baylor 74-58 on Saturday afternoon.
Blair's 28 points led all shooters as she scored six 3-pointers to go with three rebounds, one assist and one steal. Bria Patterson also scored in double-digits contributing 10 points with four rebounds and one assist
First Quarter
The Cougars came out hot, going on a 10-2 run to open up the game. Blair scored 10-points in the first quarter including a 3-pointer to give Houston a 17-14 lead to end the first quarter.
Second Quarter
In the second quarter, Houston managed to hold on to its 3-point lead for the beginning of the quarter. However, the Cougars were unable to stop Baylor's pressure and the Bears went on a 10-0 run to close out the quarter, 34-27.
Third Quarter
Houston was unable to connect coming out of halftime as Baylor scored nine unanswered points going up 43-27 and the Bears finished the quarter ahead 51-32.
Fourth Quarter
In the fourth quarter, Houston found their rhythm as Blair led the charge. The Cougars went on a 15-3 run with eight points coming from Blair. However, it was too late as the Bears took the win 74-58.
