Despite 19 points from Hill, Cougars drop matchup to Fordham 67-53

Tatyana Hill posted 19 points for the Cougars, as well as eight rebounds in the loss
CANCUN, Mex. – Despite Tatyana Hill leading all scorers with 19 points, the Houston women's basketball team dropped its contest to Fordham, 67-53 on Friday afternoon in the Cancun Challenge.
Tatyana Hill finished the game with 19 points to go along with eight rebounds, one steal and one block. Britney Onyeje contributed nine points as well as four rebounds and three steals.
First Quarter
The game was evenly matched through the first quarter with the two teams fighting for the lead. Fordham went ahead by four points but four straight bucks from the Cougars gave the lead to Houston 14-12. The quarter closed with Fordham ahead 15-14.
Second Quarter
In the second quarter, the two teams continued to trade points before Fordham managed to take a five-point lead going into halftime, 32-27.
Third Quarter
Fordham continued its momentum going into the third quarter and eventually took a 13-point lead. However, the Cougars fought back, chipping away the Rams lead until the final moments of the quarter as a jumper from Laila Blair brought the game within five points at 48-43.
Fourth Quarter
The Cougars were unable to connect on baskets in the fourth quarter as Fordham went on an 11-0 run to make the score 59-43. The Rams held a 10+ point lead for the rest of the game and took the win67-53.
