Houston Completes Day One of TCU Tournament

Cougars split doubles matchups
FORT WORTH, Texas – The University of Houston Tennis program opened its 2021 winning a pair of doubles matches against Texas A&M at the TCU Tournament on Saturday.

The doubles team of freshmen Gabriela Giraldo and Blanca Cortijo Parreno got things going for the Cougars, winning their matchup 6-2. They were followed by the pair of junior Stephanie Belovukovic and sophomore Manasi Reddy, who won in sweeping fashion, 6-0.

Saturday's action also saw the Cougars compete in eight singles matches against the Aggies. Junior Sophie Gerits came out strong, winning the first set but was unable to hold onto her lead and ultimately fell 3-6, 6-2, 1-0 (0-6).

Houston returns to for the second day of the TCU Tournament on Sunday, when the Cougars face Rice and TCU in doubles, followed by eight singles competition. Fans wishing to follow along can do so with live stats and a live stream.
