Cougars look to extend three-game winning streak
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Women's Basketball team remains inside the Fertitta Center for its second meeting of the season with UCF.
Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m. and the game will be streamed on ESPN+
Houston remains home for its second meeting of the season with UCF. The Cougars are led in scoring by Britney Onyeje who averages 10.8 points per game. Tatyana Hill leads UH on the glass, pulling down 5.4 rebounds per game. Dymond Gladney is the assists leader for the Cougars with 34 this season.
Houston is averaging 69.1 points per game on 39.3 percent shooting from the field and a 31.6 percent mark from beyond the 3-point line. The Cougars allow 65.2 points on defense while letting opponents shoot 39.3 percent and 24.2 percent from the field and beyond the arc, respectively.
Under Coach Hughey, Houston has been one of the most active defensive teams in the country over the past two seasons. The Cougars enter the game with 124 steals this season and 51 blocks, forcing 20.70 turnovers per game.
SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS
UCF is in its 5th season under Head Coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson. The Knights are 7-2 this season and 5-1 in conference play. UCF has won two of its last three games, most recently defeating to Cincinnati in a 57-41 decision. UCF is led in scoring by Courtijia Sanders who averages 11.6 points per game. Masseny Kaba leads the team in rebounds with 5.6 per game. Diamond Battles leads UH in assists with 36 this season. UCF averages 58.0 points per game on 42.3 percent shooting from the field, including a 33.3 percent mark from the three-point line.

Saturday's meeting is the 23rd meeting between the two teams. Houston trails the series 6-17.

Houston has proven itself to be a threat from behind the three-point line, racking up at least six made three's in all but one game this season. Houston has made 89 three-pointers this season and is holding opponents to only 47 made threes. Onyeje is second in The American in made three-pointers this season with 25. The Cougars have shown that they are not afraid to shoot three-pointers and on the flipside they are one of the best at defending the three-point shot. UH ranks second in the league and 20th nationally in three-point FG defense, holding opponents to 24.3 percent from long-range.

Twice this season UH has forced 30 turnovers by an opponent, This season UH has earned 124 steals and is averaging 10.3 steals per game. Houston is 34th in the NCAA in steals per game and second in the league.
