Crump Notches Double-Double in Loss to UCF

HOUSTON – The University of Houston Women's Basketball team struggled offensively in a 50-38 loss to UCF on Saturday afternoon inside the Fertitta Center.
Miya Crump led Houston in every category with the first double-double of her career. She paced UH with 10 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and four steals.
UCF was led by Masseny Kaba with 16 points.
Both teams struggled to score as they combined for 10 points in the opening frame. Three Cougars scored, as UH forced 10 turnovers and snagged five steals to close out the quarter.
UCF caught fire in the second quarter, outscoring Houston 16-7 in the frame. Onyeje led Houston with five points as Crump cleaned the glass for UH with four boards. Houston trailed the Knights, 20-13 at the break.
Crump paced the Cougars for the next two frames, scoring all 10 of her points in the third and fourth quarters. UH struggled to find scoring in the third quarter after Crump made the only three-pointer of the frame for UH in the opening seconds. Defensively, Houston forced eight UCF turnovers, allowing the Knights to shoot only 30.8 percent from the field.
In the fourth quarter, UCF got going from behind the three-point line, hitting three three-pointers to extend its lead. Crump and Onyeje each hit a bucket from long-range, as Crump led UH with seven fourth quarter points.
UP NEXT
Houston will return to action on Jan. 27 when the team travels to Tulane for a 6 p.m. tip-off on ESPN+.
