Houston Tennis Welcomes McNeese for Home Opener

Cougars seek to remain perfect in all-time series
HOUSTON – After opening its season at the TCU Tournament, the University of Houston Tennis team opens its home slate at noon, Sunday, welcoming McNeese to the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility.

The Cougars faced the Cowgirls last season when Houston shutout McNeese, 7-0, to improve its all-time record to 7-0 against McNeese. In that contest, the Cougars swept the Cowgirls in singles play, winning each match in just two sets.

In its opener at the TCU Tournament, Houston saw the doubles duo of junior Sophie Gerits and freshman Laura Slisane collect a pair of wins at the four-day event. Slisane also saw success on the singles side, winning all four sets in her two victories. Gerits won a total of two singles matches as well, having won all four sets in her wins, too.
