HOUSTON – The University of Houston baseball team continues its six-game road swing this weekend as the Cougars travel to Tucson to face No. 25 Arizona starting Friday at 7 p.m. CT.
On Wednesday, Houston took game one of the Silver Glove Series against Rice, 6-4. Arizona has won three out of its last four games including an 8-6 victory over Texas on Tuesday.
Saturday's game is set for 5 p.m. CT with the series finale tabbed for 2 p.m. CT on Sunday.

• The Cougars and Wildcats met last season in Houston. The Cougars won the series against Arizona.
• Junior first baseman Ryan Hernandez leads the team in batting average (.333), home runs (4), RBI (12), triples (1) and slugging percentage (.682).
• Against Rice, Derrick Cherry made an impact on the mound and at the plate. The sophomore tossed four shutout innings to earn his first career save, while reaching base five times (1-for-1; four walks) against Rice.
• The Cougars are second in The American with 23 stolen bases. Tyler Bielamowicz leads the team and is tied for second the league with eight stolen bases.
• Houston is batting .218 as a team and has a 4.68 ERA, compared to opponents' .262 average and 4.28 ERA.
• On Feb. 3, the program announced it would pay tribute to the Altobelli family by wearing a decal "JKA ALTO" with each of their initials on their batting helmets throughout the 2020 season.
• Houston was picked second in The American 2020 Preseason Poll released on Dec. 30. The Cougars finished with 54 points and three first-place votes, second only to ECU, which garnered 62 points and six total votes.
• Houston returns 18 letterwinners and welcomes 17 newcomers to the fold on its 2020 squad. Of those, five offensive starters and two weekend starting pitchers are back from a season ago.
ON ARIZONA
• The Wildcats enter this weekend's series with an 8-4 record. Arizona is 5-2 at Hi Corbett Field.
• Donta Williams leads the Wildcats in batting average (.405) and on-base percentage (.576).
• Austin Wells is hitting .364 with two home runs and 13 RBI.
• On the mound, left-hander Garrett Irvin leads the way with a 3-0 record and a 4.50 ERA in three starts.
• Arizona has scored at least one run in 101 straight games — it has not suffered a shutout loss since falling 1-0 at Washington on March 17, 2018.
ON DECK
The Cougars conclude their six-game road swing with a mid-week series at UNLV. Houston opens the series on Tuesday at 8:05 p.m. CT against UNLV. The two-game set wraps up on Wednesday at 4 p.m. CT from Las Vegas.
