Cougars look to remain unbeaten inside the Fertitta Center
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Women's Basketball team returns to action on Wednesday, Dec. 30 inside the Fertitta Center when it takes on Wichita State.
Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN+ and the game can be viewed by clicking HERE.
THE 4-1-1
Houston continues its American Athletic Conference campaign when it host Wichita State on Dec. 30. The Cougars are led in scoring by Britney Onyeje who averages 16.7 points per game. Tatyana Hill leads UH on the glass, pulling down 6.3 rebounds per game. Julia Blackshell-Fair is the assists leader for the Cougars with 20 this season.
Houston is averaging 74.0 points per game on 40.5 percent shooting from the field and a 38.6 percent mark from beyond the 3-point line. The Cougars allow 71.2 points on defense while letting opponents shoot 40.6 percent and 20.7 percent from the field and beyond the arc, respectively.
Under Coach Hughey, Houston has been one of the most active defensive teams in the country over the past two seasons. The Cougars enter the game with 50 steals this season and 17 blocks, forcing 20.60 turnovers per game.
SCOUTING THE SHOCKERS
Wichita State is in its 4th season under Head Coach Keitha Adams. The Shockers are 3-2 this season and have dropped their last two contests, most recently falling to South Dakota in a 54-62 decision. WSU is led in scoring by Asia Strong who is one of four Wichita State players averaging at least 10.0 points per game. Ene Adams averages 6.4 rebounds per game to lead the team in the category. DJ McCarty is the assist leader for WSU with 18 assists this season. WSU averages 65.5 points per game on 38.6 percent shooting from the field, including a 26.8 percent mark from the three-point line.

Wednesday's meeting is the 7th meeting between the two teams. Houston leads the series 6-1. Houston has won two of the last three meetings.
