Cougars to play Huskies at XL Center
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Women's Basketball team will head to Hartford to face No. 1 UConn at the XL Center on Saturday afternoon. The game can be seen on ESPN3.
GAME NOTES
COUGAR FAST BREAK
• Houston enters Saturday's game with a 8-8 overall record this season, including a 1-1 mark in conference play.
• Houston has four players averaging double-digits this season led by Dorian Branch with 11.9 points per game, she is followed by Tatyana Hill who is averaging 11.4 points per game. Dymond Gladney contributes 10.9 points per game followed by Julia Blackshell-Fair providing 10.8 points per game.
• Houston is averaging 65.5 points per game on 39.8 percent shooting from the field and a 26.9 percent mark from beyond the 3-point line. The Cougars allow 66.3 points per game on defense while letting opponents shoot 40.3 percent and 31.0 percent from the field and beyond the arc, respectively.
• Hill leads Houston on the glass, pulling down 6.6 rebounds per contest. • Houston is a force to be reckoned with on the boards this season, averaging 39.1 rebounds per game including over 15 offensive boards per game.
• Houston forces 17.8 turnovers per game, with 15 or more forced turnovers in 15 of its 16 games this season. Under Coach Hughey, Houston has been one of the most active defensive teams in the country over the past two seasons. The Cougars are experts at protecting the rim, entering the game ranked 52nd nationally in blocks (63) and 95th in Blocks Per Game (3.9).
