Sophomore guard leads all with 22 points and 10 rebounds in win during tour of Italy on Tuesday
FLORENCE, Italy – Behind 22 points and 10 rebounds from sophomore guard Quentin Grimes and an outstanding defensive effort, the University of Houston Men's Basketball program cruised to a 75-32 win over LCC University (Lithuania) on Tuesday inside Pala Terme.
Falling behind 2-0 early, the Cougars scored the next 13 points on the way to amassing a 20-5 lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back in winning for the third straight game on their summer tour of Italy. Houston held LCC University to only 1-of-12 shooting in the game's first 10 minutes.
LCC University scored the first two points of the second half, but the Cougars responded again with a 17-0 run and built as much as a 44-point lead late in the game.
LCC University never posted more than six unanswered points at any point in the game before the Cougars answered with points of their own.
Houston did not allow more than four LCC field goals in any period and enjoyed a 59-37 rebounding advantage with 21 offensive rebounds while forcing 17 turnovers. LCC shot only 21.3 percent (10-of-47) from the field in the game.
Sophomore guard Cameron Tyson added 12 points, thanks to four 3-pointers. Sophomore guard DeJon Jarreau returned to the lineup to score 12 points with eight rebounds, a game-high seven assists and four steals. The New Orleans native sat out Monday's win over BC Silute due to illness.
Redshirt freshman guard Caleb Mills finished with 10 points.
Gedimas Lesciauskas led LCC University with eight points.
