Under the leadership of two-time, defending American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year Kelvin Sampson, the Cougars return seven student-athletes and two starters from last year's team, which set a school record with 33 wins, captured the American Athletic Conference regular-season championship by two games and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 for the first time since 1984.

He will be joined by freshman guard Marcus Sasser, freshman forward J'Wan Roberts and sophomore guard Cameron Tyson, who will sit out this season as a redshirt after transferring from Idaho.
Saturday's game will be the first of 17 home games inside the Fertitta Center. A year ago, the Cougars posted a 19-1 record with wins in 33 consecutive games in their home facility dating back to 2017 at one point
