ARGYLE, Texas – The University of Houston Women's Golf Team capped its regular season with a sixth-place finish at The Bruzzy at Lantana Golf Club on Tuesday afternoon.
Houston, which stands at No. 28 in the latest Golfstat national rankings, posted a score of 301 on the 6,421-yard, par-72 course in the Final Round.
Freshman Hannah Screen finished the two-day, 54-hole event with a score of even-par 216 on the way to the fifth Top-20 finish of her young career.
No. 35 Baylor captured the team title with a score of 854 to finish two strokes ahead of No. 41 Mississippi. No. 43 Texas Tech finished third at 861 with BYU (862) and Miami (Fla.) (869) rounding out the Top-Five leaders. Maryland (873), No. 2 Texas (873), No. 19 TCU (878) and SMU (883) completed the Top 10.
Senior Tatiana Pineda tied for 23rd at 217, while freshman Maria Jose Martinez enjoyed the team's low round of the day with a 73 to move into a tie for 28th at 219. Senior Maddy Rayner tied for 41st at 222 with junior Amanda Elich tying for 47th at 223.
No. 59 Gurleen Kaur (Baylor) and No. 21 Hailee Cooper (Texas) shared medalist honors at 9-under 207. No. 25 Sofia Garcia (Texas Tech) and Faith Summers (SMU) tied for third at 210 with Reid Isaac (Kansas State) finishing fifth at 212.
UP NEXT
Following The Bruzzy, senior All-American Leonie Harm makes history when she competes at the inaugural Augusta National Women's Amateur beginning Wednesday morning.
Harm is part of an international field of 72 amateur players who will compete in 36 holes of stroke play with the Top-30 players advancing to the Final Round on Saturday at Augusta National Golf Club.
From there, the Cougars return action as a team when they enter the postseason at the American Athletic Conference Championships at the Hammock Beach Resort on April 14-16.
