Saint Germain Leads Women’s Golf in Huntington Bank Collegiate Final Round

Senior ties for sixth with 54-hole score of 6-under 210; Coogs finish fifth as team
DALLAS – University of Houston Women's Golf senior Natalie Saint Germain posted her third straight sub-par score during the Final Round of the Huntington Bank Collegiate to finish in a tie for sixth at Trinity Forest Golf Club on Tuesday afternoon.
As a team, the 32nd-ranked Cougars recorded a score of 292 in the Final Round on the 6,283-yard, par-72 course and finished fifth with a two-day total of 7-under 857 against a field featuring 10 of the nation's Top-50 programs.Starting the Final Round off No. 1, Saint Germain drained a pair of birdies on her first nine and sank two more birdies over her final five holes to earn her second Top-10 finish of the season and the ninth of her career.
Senior Moa Svedenskiöld and sophomore Emilia Väistö tied for 22nd at even-par 216 while junior Maelynn Kim tied for 26th at 217. Playing as an individual, freshman Sadie Adams finished 33rd at 218 while senior Alexa Saldaña tied for 40th at 220.
#27 Oklahoma State won the team title with a score of 839 to finish three shots ahead of host #30 SMU. #15 UCLA finished third at 846 with #18 Tennessee (853), #23 Oklahoma (859), #25 Arizona (865), #41 TCU (870), #13 UCF (870) and Tulane (880) completing the Top 10.
Oklahoma State's Marta Silchenko and SMU's Mackenzie Lee tied atop the individual leaderboard at 203 with Lee claiming medalist honors in a scorecard tiebreaker.
UCLA's Kacey Ly and Jen Lee finished 3-4 at 206 and 207, respectively, while Oklahoma State's Yu-Chu Chen finished fifth at 209. Nena Wongthanavimok (Arizona), Emily Odwin (SMU) and Sophie Christopher (Tennessee) joined Saint Germain in the tie for sixth at 210.
UP NEXT
Following the Huntington Bank Collegiate, Houston opens the postseason when it tees off at the Big 12 Championships, slated to be played at Dallas Athletic Club in Dallas on April 23-25.
From there, the Cougars will enter the NCAA postseason on May 11-13 at one of six venues across the nation. Those sites include University of Michigan Golf Course (Ann Arbor, Mich.); UNC Finley Golf Course (Chapel Hill, N.C.); Robert Jones Golf Trail at Hampton Cove (Huntsville, Ala.); Stanford Golf Course (Stanford, Calif.,); Seminole Legacy Golf Club (Tallahassee, Fla.) and Ridgewood Country Club (Waco, Texas).
The Cougars will learn their postseason fate during the NCAA Selection Show at 4 p.m. (CDT), Wednesday, April 29, on Golf Channel.
The Top-Five teams from each NCAA Regional advance to play at the NCAA Championships, set for May 22-27 at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.
