Melancon tosses sixth complete game of season
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Softball team wrapped up its weekend series with USF falling to the Bulls (26-14, 4-2 AAC) by a score of 3-0 on Sunday afternoon.
For the Cougars (24-12, 2-4 AAC), junior pitcher Trystan Melancon tossed her sixth complete game of the season, having struck out six batters and allowing just one walk over 101 pitches. In her nine starts this year, Melancon hasn't surrendered more than three earned runs.
At the plate, seniors Savannah Heebner and Maya Thomas, along with juniors Lindsey Stewart and Brianna Burton, all collected a hit in the contest.

KEY INNINGS
3rd | The Bulls broke through first in the top of the third, as a fielding blunder from the Cougars allowed a run to score.
5th | USF stretched its lead to three in the fifth after three hits resulted in two more runs crossing the plate for the Bulls. The Cougars tried to respond immediately with a leadoff single in the bottom of the inning, but were unable to put together the timely hits, as the three-run deficit proved to be too much to overcome in the 3-0 decision.
