Houston Drops Series Finale at DBU

Joe Davis, Kobe Hyland homer in loss
DALLAS -- The University of Houston Baseball team fell to DBU, 8-4, on Sunday afternoon at Horner Ballpark.
With the decision, the Cougars, who won the series after victories on Friday and Saturday, move to 10-8, ending their win streak ends at six games, while the Patriots improve to 14-5.
KEY INNINGS
2nd | DBU scored the first run of the game with a leadoff triple and sacrifice fly in the bottom of the second inning.
3rd | The Patriots made it 2-0 with another sacrifice fly in the third.
6th | In the sixth, Houston scored four runs on home runs from senior first baseman Joe Davis and junior shortstop Kobe Hyland. With one out, junior right fielder Lael Lockhart Jr. reached on a hit by pitch, and junior third baseman Jared Triolo doubled down the left-field line to put runners at the corners. Davis cleared the bases with a three-run homer to left center. Two batters later, Hyland added a solo shot to give Houston a 4-2 lead.
7th | DBU broke out for five runs in the bottom of the seventh.
8th | The Patriots added a solo home run in the eighth for the 8-4 final.
HOUSTON NOTES
Offense:
• Davis (three-run) and Hyland (solo) each homered in the sixth inning as part of 1-for-4 efforts.
• Davis' home run broke Houston's career total bases record set by Brandon Caraway (435, 1997-00) with 437.
• Lockhart finished 2-for-3 with one double and one run scored.
• Triolo also collected two hits with a double and run scored to highlight a 2-for-4 showing.
• Senior center fielder Grayson Padgett went 1-for-4 with a double, while freshman designated hitter Craig Yoho singled in a 1-for-4 display.
Pitching:
• Junior right-handed pitcher Devon Roedahl (3-1) suffered the first loss of his Houston career. Roedahl was tagged for five runs (four earned) in one-third of an inning.
• Senior Ryan Randel, who had his start pushed one day due to illness, scattered five hits and two runs over six innings in a no-decision.
• Junior Brayson Hursdman tossed the final inning and a-third, giving up a home run in the bottom of the eighth.
ON DECK
As announced on Feb. 18, the Cougars next visit McNeese in a 6 p.m., Tuesday matchup in Lake Charles, La.

Gameday parking is offered in a different capacity than in prior years. Anyone entering Lot 16B (across the street from right field) will be subjected to paying a third party company employed by campus. This lot will no longer be an option for free parking on gamedays. All other lots surrounding the stadium will be free of charge two hours prior to first pitch.
